"More Than a Miracle" is a Sophia Loren film that is among her more obscure....and after seeing it, I could see why. It's a fairy tale of sorts but also a very dark one as well....and not especially pleasant to watch.
The film consists of a very nasty prince (Omar Sharif) in Spain during the period of the Spanish Inquisition. He sees a monk floating in the sky and the monk tells him to look for a woman to cook him seven dumplings as she'll be the love of his life. However, as the prince goes about the countryside, he shows himself to be a real jerk....and a most unlikable one. This seriously impacts the story and when he meets Loren's character, he orders her about like she's garbage! Some romance, huh?!
With little chemistry between the pair, a lot of weird details that are distracting and a story that just drags, the film is a struggle to finish. Not a horrible film but certainly not a good one either. Unpleasant and dull.
