It begins well: a robbery, a prison break, a double murder - how are they all connected? Then there is a big noticeable lull in the middle, until the film revives itself with a fairly strong final section. Female lead Françoise Arnoul gives a 3-dimensional performance (and also has 3 seconds of very surprising toplessness!); Michel Piccoli plays a cop like he did in the same director's "Rafles Sur La Ville" the previous year, but he's a much blander character this time. **1/2 out of 4.
