Delivery Man (2013)
6/10
Lackluster but Emotionally Gripping

Warning: Spoilers
Though labeled and advertised as a comedy, Delivery Man, has dramatic depth and an emotional pull. Vince Vaughn is charming as the reluctant father of hundreds of children and Chris Pratt is perfectly cast as his earnest, yet struggling friend. While the premise is a bit absurd, Vaughn's performance, along with the subtle brilliance of Pratt, elevates the material into an intriguing 105 minutes.

You can see and feel the struggle as life-changing decisions are being made by the main character. The connection that is developed between David and some of his children, especially Ryan, helps make the whole situation seen somewhat believable. However, in order to fully enjoy the film, you have to throw rationale out the window and ignore the gnawing thought that no one could successfully father 533 children. Though I thought some of the character motivations were superficial (So, a loan shark threatened his dad?) and relationships underdeveloped (Who even is Emma and why is she dating David?), it was an emotionally gripping film I would gladly recommend.
