Review of Schumacher

Schumacher (2021)
5/10
Disappointing
17 September 2021
Having followed F1 for 25 years (including the Schumacher years), there was nothing really new here, especially if you've read James Allen's The Edge of Greatness. This is mainly a view of an OCD, narcissist who pushed work ethic in F1 to never-before-seen levels. It doesn't cover many of greatest moments of driving, many of most notorious moments, and tries to make us care about family life that heretofore was always kept preciously private. There's a dearth of information about his accident and the aftermath. Overall, I found it a boring documentary and all I can take away is that Michael is very lucky to have a family that love him and will do everything for him. Did it make me care more about Michael - no, every shred of humanity that they try to show is wiped out by every shot of his obsessive, workaholic, drive to win.
