I stumbled upon this 2010 fantasy adventure movie in 2021. And I hadn't actually never heard about the movie before now as I sat down to watch it. But I figured that it being a movie based on a Jules Verne story, then it couldn't possibly be all bad.
Boy, was I wrong. This movie from writers Sholom Gelt and Cameron Larson was downright awful. This was definitely one of the most dubious and stupid movies that I have sat down to watch in a long time. And I can only speculate what the writers were thinking - or maybe not thinking - when they sat down to write the script and plot for "Mysterious Island".
Not only was the storyline a swing and a miss, but the whole movie was just permeated by being rubbish. The acting performances throughout the movie weren't much to write home about, and not even someone like William Morgan Sheppard were able to do much to salvage the movie.
Visually then "Mysterious Island" was not particularly impressive either, so there weren't much to be had on that account.
