. . . exactly WHAT a 'belfry' is. Though the background animation in this brief cartoon is pretty shoddy, lackadaisical, static, cheap and basic, it may be ample enough to educate viewers that this part of a consecrated steeple contains the secular bells. (Why anyone would want to fry them is beyond me.) If anything should be fried, it's the title characters of this film. Constantly spitting and frothing at their mouths, this trio probably mirrors Real Life in being thoroughly rabid. To make matters worse, these inebriated bats try to spoof the three stooges, backed by the appropriate sound effects. These audio technicians should have been severely reprimanded for egging on the BATS IN THE BELFRY.
