John Emmett's car breaks down on a cross country trip. He sells his car and gets a ride from passing motorist Ann Nicholson. His innocent ride turns into a dangerous affair. He is approached by nurse Helen Bethke who claims that Ann is a runaway patient.

This starts with a compelling revelation. Sometime after the handcuffs, I started to lose interest. I don't buy the romance and I barely buy the espionage. During the initial police encounter, there are some questionable reactions coming from John. I end up questioning John a lot and some others. After an interesting start, I find the rest to be somewhat problematic.
