A Very Good Film Killed by the Hayes Code - The Unknown Man
17 November 2021
This is an above average film that could have been a much better film, if it were not for the Hayes Code. The Hayes Code stated if you committed any kind of crime, you had to pay for it within the confines of the film. That is the case in this film. Imagine the sweet irony and wonderful completeness of justice if a murderer is sent to the chair for a crime he didnt commit, instead of one insisted upon by the Hayes Code. Most of us understand the difference between right and wrong. We know that killing the murderer is the right thing to do. Does it really matter how it is accomplished?
