While the movie was frequently silly with some weaker moments earlier on, it got stronger as it went on. Will Ferrell and Rachel McAdams were very appealing. Despite Ferrell's character being self-absorbed and a buffoon, he had a sweet side. McAdams was just beautiful and perfect and yet didn't let her part become fake. I think she's quite an underrated actress. I hope she gets an Oscar-level role to challenge her. Pierce Brosnan was very effective as the tough manly father. It made sense that he had issues with his son because he just reminded him too much of his mother who had passed away.
The music was a bit strange at first but it was very strong in the second half. Fire Saga's end music was absolutely beautiful.
