Review of Red

Red (2008)
Dog's Best Friend...
10 December 2021
RED stars Brian Cox as Avery Ludlow, a man out for justice after a trio of young punks kill his beloved dog. Avery tries every legal way first without success. He approaches the parents, which only makes matters worse as we learn why the perpetrators are so wicked. Let's just say that the rotten apples don't fall far from the tree.

Tom Sizemore plays Mr. McCormack, who is the true devil behind the whole situation. His son is a chip off the old violent, psychopathic block.

Things escalate, eventually leading to the inevitable conclusion. In addition to being a superior revenge film, RED is also a brilliant commentary on age, class, and parental influence. Mr. Cox plays his somber role in a natural, realistic way. He's not a vengeful madman, he just wants his dog, and answers as to why he no longer has him...
