When I saw this title I thought I missed 'Journey 1', but a little research cleared that up quickly enough. Actor Josh Hutcherson is the only returnee from "Journey to the Center of the Earth" in this presumed sequel, but the only connection besides him is the the name of author Jules Verne, who's sc-fi/fantasy stories form the basis of both movies. Just like the earlier film, this one appears to favor a younger audience, and calling it a family picture wouldn't be out of line. However you do have to leave your thinking cap behind on this one, as the treacherous situations encountered by Sean Henderson (Hutcherson) and his traveling companions are all handled rather easily, and step-dad Hank (Dwayne Johnson) has a miraculous solution for every puzzle they encounter. Like jump starting a hundred forty year old battery by way of a giant moray eel! It all makes for a fun and entertaining movie if you're not in a critical mood, and the supporting cast add their share of enthusiasm and comic relief.
