'Well, Cuphead and his pal Mugman, they like to... what they like?'
13 March 2022
'Cuphead: Don't deal with the Devil' launched in 2017, was one of the best indies games i ever seen, this is gaven by the Classical Artstyle, Music, and a simple story with simple characters that remembers the classical cartoons of the 30's and 40's.

And then, i was hyped to 'The Cuphead Show' since it was anounced.

The series in general is good, but there are some problems and errors that the series have to over pass when the 2nd season came in to public.

The animation and the visuals in general is probably the best part of the show, its very smoth, colored and beautiful, and pass the old cartoons vibes using real objects to the backgrounds, the effect of an dirty screen and the cheesy and rubbery movement of the characters, everything is so atmospheric and beautiful.

The soundtrack don't give away the original game's OST, classical instruments are still used here in a so good way, and even some of the original tracks are used here, but i have an problem with it, the moment where the musics are the protagonists, the moment where we have the character's songs, are sadly pretty weak, there are two that stick on my head, but the other ones i just don't remember them, they are just generic, but the the instrumental ones, are all so good.

The characters are the same of the game, but they have some different extra personalities to mix with the 'Rated E for Everyone', and is not the worst thing, but its not the best. The most silly and positive personalities of characters may impact the kids, unlike the fans and the critics, that waited for an more complex traits or scenes with them, and they are there! But not so remarkable, the result is: 'I watched. I play the game again. And notice the same characters, but not with the personalities of the series', what is the opposite what happend to Arcane for example. But they are still funny to watch, actually because its an series with an great tone of humor, and the jokes are in majority hilarious.

And finally... the Story. The weakest point of the show in my opnion. The story of the original Cuphead is simple, but it works because its not the game focus, and even by remember an story that you would seen in an old cartoon. For the series the story was inevitable to be more expanded, but the series doesn't showed so much the story that it want you to heard and see.

The series probably don't get what original fans and critics want, but offers an good and funny expierence for the ones that doesn't played or have seen the original game.

8/10.
