A little bit of death, a lot of heart

Warning: Spoilers
Liked the film "Belle Fille" so much I looked up Jonathan Zaccai's other films and found this on YouTube. This shows another fantastic performance from Zaccai, as well as Golshifteh Farahani later stealing the scenes in the last half.

It's a slow burning story that doesn't require a lot of dialogue, and takes its time with the characters.

Philippe is released from prison and befriends Avdal. After finding Avdal's dead body, Philippe does what he can to notify his family. What started about Philippe connects to that of Siba, the fiancée of the deceased who is visiting Paris when she gets the news. Through the crushing scene where Siba gets the news, to Philippe figuring out what to do with a jar of ashes when the wind kicks up (I didn't expect to laugh so hard at that!), it's a serious theme with plenty of light hearted moments and genuine heart.

If you want something expected, this isn't the one for you. It's less about death and more about the meaningful connections you make with others, whether it be lost love, or the friendship and connection found in the least likely of places and people.
