. . . until the very end, when Mickey welcomes the Yule Tree stowaways into his household "because it's Christmas." Mickey's magnanimous gesture is more a case of "us vermin need to have each other's back" and "birds of a feather flock together" than any true evidence of the "X-Mas Spirit." Think about it. When is the last time you whipped out a fruitcake for holiday guests, discovered that the seasonal confection was covered with ants and just laughed it off by saying "I guess they're just having themselves a merry little Christmas"?
