An insult to the comic

Warning: Spoilers
I really wanted to like this show, and I gave it a few chances. This is my favorite comic series and I was so excited. The first page of the comic book instills a sense of dread that doesn't stop until you've finished the last page of the entire series. The survivors guilt, the traumatic death of a parent, witnessing that death first hand, the isolation. I felt none of that watching this. The character arcs are meant to be unique and complex in their own way, and still seemingly interweave into each other seamlessly. I had a lot of problems with just the first episode. Not only was the back story completely different, omitting one of the most important parts of the back story, it was so lackluster I had to rewind it because I wasn't able to pay attention. The pivotal scene where Kinsley takes back her personality, it was laughable. She puts pink streaks in her hair. In the original she completely changes her appearance because she doesn't want the murder to dull her of define her. There was barely any feeling behind that scene. There are a lot of other things I had issues with but I'll spare you. It seems like whoever wrote this show just flipped through the book and made the script. I wasn't expecting perfection and I went into it being very open minded, but I'm gutted. It's horrible. Maybe as a stand alone it would be fine, but I've had the real thing and it was worlds better than this trash.
