Deliberate confusion does not make a movie good
27 March 2022
Warning: Spoilers
Telling two unrelated stories in order to confuse does not evoke praise from the viewer, rather it evokes laughter from the writer AT the viewer for fooling them. The opening scene is intriguing and gives an impression of supernatural, and the stylized car trips are also intriguing, but beyond that, most of the story gives irrelevant details, and by the time you have enough to solve it, it is such a let-down that you feel sorry for Dustin Hoffman for how desperate he must have been to agree to this role, which is, at times, reminiscent of Tootsie.
