The Line (2021)
2/10
Doesn't address the real issue.

This documentary bothers me on a number of levels but let's just start with the obvious. This man, Eddie Gallagher, Navy SEAL, was obviously suffering from PTSD. His behavior was indicative of this, and other signs such as his weight loss and increasing withdrawal from others were mentioned but then glossed over. He was made out to be a sociopath and these newbies on the scene are glorified for being so brave and turning him in. Let's think about this a little more deeply. He has years of combat experience that's obviously affected him and led him to be hyper vigilant, aggressive, while at the same time being emotionally dissociated ... (symptoms of ptsd btw) ... and then everyone's so upset that he stabs an isis fighter ?!?! I'm not saying it was ok, but he was groomed for war and his ability to act swiftly while being emotionally detached has always been reinforced and frankly celebrated but bc he "didn't follow the rules " he's a war criminal?! I'm sorry but this documentary is missing the point.
