Review of Permanent Vacation

I wish i would've liked it better than i did. The shots of empty alleyways over spooky jazz in the begining were really cool, plus some of the scenes were also fun. The one where he steals the car from the lady for instance. But for the most part while beautiful and with good music the film is comprised of little sketches of the main character blabbering some real pretentious things whilst trying way to hard to look cool. While i admire and respect what Jarmuch was going for, i can't say that i enjoyed it.

Also i would like to add that permanent vacation takes so much influence from news from home by Chantal its crazy. The whole ending sequence is pretty much identical.
