Dirty Pair OVA (1987–1988)
1/10
A two-seconds cameo stretched too much for its own good, what could possibly go wrong?

And with that I mean the Cameo of Kei and Yuri in the Kurassa Joe Movie. By this time clearly Sunrise had lost all the ideas concerning this franchise: gone is the humour of the original 1985 Dirty Pair series (already not a masterpiece, but adequately fun on its own), gone is the dynamic between the two protagonists, welcomed are boring re-ashes of sci-fi tropes and of ideas already employed in the preceding iterations (this is already the THIRD time we see a Terminator Spin-off because reasens) with an acting performance by the Seiyuu providing the voice for Kei as tired and uninspired as the third/fourth rate janky animation. Also, even as a lover of City Pop and J-Pop in general I found the intro and outro songs really generic in comparison to the original series ones. Which begs the question of why Sunrise put so much effort in developing the Dirty Pair spinoff instead of focusing more on the potential the Kurassa Joe movie and OAVs had. Rest assured, this is the last I'll be watching by Kei and Yuri.
