Warning: Spoilers
In the plot of assassinate Hitler, several things went against plan, a possible signal to postpone what conspirators hoped to accomplish that day -- July 20, 1944.

But with millions being murdered under the Nazis, maybe German army officer Claus von Schauffenberg felt that action could not be delayed.

This documentary notes the fateful location change for a meeting with Hitler where his killing was to take place -- from a concrete-fortified bunker to the Wolf's Lair, a wooden conference room.

"In the bunker, the blast would have been contained, and everyone in the room would have been killed," we learn.

Von Schauffenberg had become disillusioned with Hitler since Kristallnacht (11/9/1938), and joined the assassination cause after learning about the mass execution of Russian Jews. When Hitler refused to allow a retreat from battle lines in Stalingrad, VS "thought he needed to be removed."

It's chilling to observe here that VS and his conspirators were summarily executed -- by a headlights-lit firing squad -- minutes after midnight on July 21.
