Lake Placid 3 (2010 TV Movie)
5/10
As could be expected, it's garbage. But good for some laughs.

The third entry in this cheese-ball genre franchise introduces us to zoologist Nathan (Colin Ferguson, 'Eureka'), who is supposed to be the nephew of the Betty White character from the first movie. He and his family arrive in the area in time for his lonely, misguided son Connor (Jordan Grehs) to think of the local crocodile family as his "friends". Connor feeds them a steady supply of meat, but naturally that's not enough. These reptiles have *already* gotten a taste for human flesh. Among those who must eventually fight the rampaging crocs are crusty hunter Reba (Yancy Butler, "Hard Target") and the local Sheriff (old pro Michael Ironside, "Total Recall").

Well...if you're going to be watching something called "Lake Placid 3", you should know what to expect. And this is cheese, through and through, with writer David Reed deliberately making most of the human characters SO insipid that the viewer roots for the reptiles by default. Some female nudity does provide a respite from the tackiness on display, although the degree of tackiness reaches pretty high levels; the CGI effects are some of the worst you'll ever see. People should only really watch something like this if they just want to see cannon fodder routinely get gobbled up for approximately an hour and a half. Connor, the babysitter Vica (Bianca Ilich), and Brett (Mark Evans), the whiny dude desperately searching for his girlfriend, are the worst characters by far.

Ironside and Butler do manage to wrest some watchability out of this. He's always good value, and she does look like she's having some fun with her change-of-pace role. This viewer will confess to having some fun with this one, but largely because of them.

The most interesting postscript is noting that director Griff Furst and composer Nathan Furst are the sons of the late Hollywood actor Stephen Furst (of "National Lampoons' Animal House" and 'Babylon 5' fame).

Five out of 10.
