It's an odd idea that this was to be really the Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde story and then more of less destroy it and combine with Jack the Ripper and also not really tell that story at all. The director mixes sex and violence and hopes it works. Oddly it does, of course because Anthony Perkins is great, a little bit over acted now and again but with all the gruesome stories and Perkins somehow how it looks great although it is really nasty killing and sex almost as porn. Perkins does it so well and you have to admit that Gerard Kikoine knows how to lavish on the sleaze with the rather terrible mix and it is very unusual.
