Warning: Spoilers
First off I have to say, that the acting in this film is incredible, Both Bridges And Williams are at the top of their game

Secondly the style of dialogue and the development of the story is extremely unique and engaging and abstract

SPOILERS AHEAD Thirdly there is a story within a story here, In the film Parry (Williams) tells a story of how a king was presented with the grail surrounded by flames and when he went to reach for it he was burned and as time went on the wounds got worse and he felt immense pain. Later a fool presents him with a glass of water because he was thirsty. And through compassion reveals what he had wanted all along, (the grail), he drinks from the glass and is healed This is shown to be a mirroring of what Parry does for Jack. When Jack was at the top of his career and about to go big time he made a terrible mistake and was wounded psychologically and was in immense pain mentally, later Parry helps him through compassion alone to find what he wants...there was even a scene earlier in the film where Jack burns his arm a hint to repeat viewers

A true masterpiece of storytelling.

Jack is The Fisher King.
