Breaking Bad: Cancer Man (2008)
Season 1, Episode 4
7/10
Great character building

Supposedly the writers originally intended to kill Jesse off in season 1. If thats the case I feel like it was before this episode was written because the way they develop Jesse in this episode leads me to believe they planned to keep him around for a while. Hes no longer a comic relief character but a person with real emotional depth, as much as Walter. Speaking of Walter, we start to see an ugly side of him that we hadn't seen before. Its very subtle but we see flashes of his inner rage, and not just at Jesse for being an idiot but at his own family. He doesn't lash out at them but he does take his frustrations out on a stranger, who is definitely a massive prick, but then again so is Walt Jr. I'm sorry but that comment he makes at the end is a crappy thing to say. Thats prolly my biggest gripe with the first couple of seasons is that Walt's family members were very unlikeable and I'm not sure if it was entirely intentional. But they definitely grow on you later on in the show.
