We are in Africa and what is shown here are African values, usages and mentality maybe somewhat exagerated. Following a banal accident that the eight year old Shula was accused to have caused, she is denounced as a witch and sent to a witch camp where she was treated like all the other members and tied to a ribbon connected to a pole and threatened to become a goat if she cut the ribbon to escape. There her supposed powers were exploited forfinancial gain even by a corrupt government oficial. This makes her to think that maybe it was better for her to try to escape and take the risk of becoming a goat. All this is well shown in the movie in a realistic and efficient form.
