This and the Wheel of Time have been my favourite books for as long as i can remember. Both got turned into tv series this year, something I had been hoping for, for decades.
As we all know the showrunners completely butchered Wheel of Time in so many ways that its an absolute disgrace. Thank god the writers of Shantaram used common sense and stuck to the great story that was already laid out for them. So far this is excellent.
The casting is solid - Even though Hummam's aussie accent is pretty poor, he displays the swagger and emotional sensitivity necessary to pull off this role. The cinematography and dialogue are grea, and looking forward to seeing how they re-enact the rest of this great tale.
