Wagon Master (1950)
7/10
Ford's trade mark

This movie is a pure, authentic, one hudred percent John Ford's material, even the most idiot could recognize it. Character' depiction, dialogues, camera work, the epic story telling, this is pure John Ford, and his very personal way that he used to describe the conquest of the West. Settings, landscapes, actors too, with the likes of Ben Johnson, Ward Bond, Harry Carey Jr - only the Duke, Hank Fonda and Victor Mc Laglen missed this cast - contribute to enhance this wonderful western, classic, with no surprises I admit, but a western that you can not avoid. I personally prefer the late sixties and early seventies westerns, a total different kind of films, except the Andrew Mac Laglen's and a handful of Burt Kennedy's also starring John Wayne, western that we could describe as a kind of John Ford's legacy, seccond rate Ford.
