We're all aware of homophobes and I've seen many movies where it's portrayed! It's disturbing but also a reality unfortunately!
The stupidity of this movie though is how unrealistically forgiving the gay guy is after being gay-bashed.... It sends a really bad message to impressionable younger gays that we deserve and should tolerate physical and mental abuse from homophobes! I didn't even feel sorry for the gay guy eventually.... He seemed like a masochist to tolerate the abuse! Pathetic!
The director should be ashamed!
And as a side note, the time line was simply messy and often confusing!
