Awful

Warning: Spoilers
I have watched all of David Walliams' Adaptations. With each new adaptation they get worse. Started off strong with Mr Stink (2012), which is a feel good charmful film. Then again with Gangsta Granny (2013). Even though these films were aimed at Children it was something the whole family could enjoy.

The Boy in the Dress (2014), Billionaire Boy (2016), Ratburger (2017) were all okay. Then Grandpa's Great Escape (2018) and The Midnight Gang (2018) weren't good.

This film is awful. I don't know why on earth they decided to make a sequel. The story is boring and so predictable. I don't think even a 5 year old could enjoy this.

The recasts are some of the worst I've seen. Replacing Miranda Hart with Sheridan Smith seems good on paper because Sheridan is a brilliant actress but in this, Miranda Hart works so much better. Ben, The Neighbour, The Queen and Flavio have all been recast and they're all played awfully. It seems so weird seeing these new, not as good, actors referencing stuff that happened in the previous film. The original Ben actor was so much better, the current actor, Archie Yates who was really good in JoJo Rabbit!!, seemed like he was just reading a script, he had no emotion.

The only returning actors/characters are Raj, Ben's Dad, The Policeman and Granny. Raj is definitely the best returning character. Ben's dad played by David Walliams' is unfunny, David Walliams' comedy career hasn't been good for the past 5 years so this does not surprise me. The Policeman played by Steve Speirs was okay, but he was only in it for a short couple of scenes. Julia McKenzie's Granny only appears in a short dream-like sequence.

This sequel was a waste of the audience's and actors times. 1/10.
