"If he knows it comes from me he won't lift a finger"

Warning: Spoilers
A disappointing third movie from 1992 in the 'Maniac Cop' series and a far cry from the excellent first film. The plot seems confusing and although it does have action scenes they seem random and without any purpose or context. There is also a weird 'Bride of Frankenstein' vibe that is badly explained. On the whole a chore to sit through to the end. I did like Robert Davi's performance as the world weary cop and Julius Harris as the strange shaman/priest. Unfortunately Robert Z'Dar as the titular cop doesn't appear much, though he is maniacal when he does. There is a good music score by Joel Goldsmith which tries hard to inject excitement and tension but is defeated by the writing and direction.

Apparently a re-make or 're-imagining' is in development. Robert Z'Dar passed away in 2015. They should let sleeping maniac cops lie.
