Review of Charon

Charon (2020)
8/10
Sweet, engaging short

I was finally able to view this delightful film. It was a pleasure to watch, and I am so thankful I got to see it after waiting for two years. There is little dialogue, but it isn't needed with Karyo's ability to convey thought and feeling without a word. He is an excellent actor and was a smart choice for the main character. The plot is simple, yet poignant; after witnessing a quiet tragedy, he realizes he needs to be proactive in life and builds a boat in his basement. However, that description is inadequate, as the viewer will soon realize that it is really more than that. It is a unique look at the human condiiton and has more character than many full-length films. Kudos to the cast and crew for making such a sweet film.
