#4/4: The Quest AKA Frog Dreaming (1986)

(7/10):The 80s was truly a strange and special time for cinema,No Budget Films were a thing,Knock Offs & Cash ins were aplenty and overseas cinema was slowly becoming more known.

Hailing from Australia,Frog Dreaming or the more blandly named The Quest is a strange little kids film in a decade that has its fair share of strange little kids films.

Helmed by Henry Thomas of E. T. fame this mysterious fantasy film is a hard one to explain.

It's more character focused with the lead character having a crush on his next door neighbour,he's an orphan and one day he discovers an unmapped pond where he starts to believe some creature or spirit lives. He's convinced that it's activity also has something to do with Frog Dreaming, whatever that is,from then on he's determined to prove this creature's existence, even at the cost of his life.

It takes a bit to get going but it's got some of that 80s movie magic wonder and charm with some cool gadgets and a monster that, for me,was worth the wait.

It's just so peculiar and weird but yet it has this kind of feeling of kid like adventure combined with a solid score and some decent practical effects work.

I recommend it,although when do I not recommend at this point, lol, still if you can put yourself in the mind of a kid, it can be a solid and enjoyable experience.
