2/10
dull attempted satire
19 February 2023
Warning: Spoilers
Almost nothing happened for the first hour or so, then some potentially interesting stuff happened (e.g., the appearance of the American Marxist and the Russian plutocrat). But the final message seemed to be that, while the rich may be annoying twerps, the lower orders of society are extortionists and murderers. Was that the point? Were the rich supposed to have driven the serving class to murder? Is the message simply that "everyone is awful"? These questions are not framed in an engaging way. A lot of attention was granted to visual detail, but little or no point to the careful craftsmanship seemed evident. This attempted satire, evidently so subtle that I couldn't even find where it was supposed to be, is about the opposite of "Don't Look Up," which hits the audience over the head with its message.
