I watched the congressional inquiry into the watergate scandal as a 20-year-old. I was so looking forward to a high quality representation of this crime by HBO. Boy, was I ever disappointed. The over acting, the cartoonish dialog and the effort to make the Plumbers look like one-dimensional idiots was very successful in this offering. I got through 25 minutes of episode one and had to shut it off. I don't defend what the Plumbers did and yes they made mistakes. But, to turn a serious event in American history into slapstick is not what I would call worthy programming. If you want to see a masterpiece of cinema, watch All the President's Men. That is a serious film about a significant milestone in our history.
