Cruchot Part Three
11 July 2023
We're back in the cozy seaside city of St. Tropez, and again we meet, next in police command, Balduin Cruchot (Louis de Funes) and his boss, adjudant Jerome Gerber (Michel Galabru) and of course their group of merry men. First thing Gerber has to say at the morning gathering is that the day is the 1st of July, meaning that the vacation period starts and that they all will be very busy.

Firstly they have to be aware of the tourists driving to the city, especially the fast driving. All men go undercover on the roads of St. Tropez. Cruchot is driving around in his car, watching out if his men are doing their work and of course if there should be any speed happy tourists. Suddenly he is overtaken by a car driving very, very fast. He tries to catch the criminal but the car is already not to br seen. He drives back to headquarters, and to his surprise the car he followed is parked right outside. He hurries to the office and finds Gerber talking to a beautiful woman, the driver of the car, it is the widow of an old colonel, her name is Josepha (Claude Gensac). Right away the two get warm feelings for each other.

Right away their relationship is quite electric, literally. First Cruchot's daughter Nicole (Geneviève Grad) are very much against this romance but she very quickly becomes very good friends with Josepha.

Naturally there's a lot going on because of the romance and because of all the tourists. Also Cruchot and Gerber are taking an exam, where the one with the best results will be promoted.

Worth mentioning is a very big computer, a couple of traffic stunts, and a try to make Josepha jealous. Perhaps a wedding or two.

It really is magic how many things director Jean Girault (as always) is cramming into a film of 90 minutes. A fun fact, Claude Gensac who plays de Funes' love interest have played in quite a few films as his wife, also outside this series. Also, for the third time the speed happy nun (France Romilly) takes a fun part in the racing. It's all good innocent fun.
