Look away from this disaster

Warning: Spoilers
In 2002, someone thought it would be a side-splittingly hilarious idea to spoof old 1970's school science programs. Nigel Lambert did the narration, and to be fair, an attempt was made to match the style of the originals. But really, what was the point? A spoof only works if you are familiar with the originals. The writers of the series clearly were not. The second season changed tack and made fun of 'Tomorrow's World'. Again, what was the point? I'd be more impressed if the writers had targeted something a bit more recent, such as reality television. Making fun of something barely anyone remembers is a waste of time. Besides, Mel Smith and Griff Rhys Jones did a better parody of the genre back in the 1980's with their sketch series. I agree with the comparison with the abysmal Rob Bryden series 'Director's Commentaries'. That also tried to spoof old programmes, but thanks to poor scripts ended up an unmitigated disaster. People must be easily amused nowadays if they regard this show as a 'work of genius'. One of the contributors was responsible for a so-called witty book called 'The Timewaster Letters'. He should stop wasting BBC viewers' licence money too.
