Sweet naive Hope, in 15th century Sweden, doesn't realise she is Lucifer's daughter. After a series of betrayals, tortures, trials and the like (including her death), she vows vengeance upon her father, begins the process of transmogrifying into Lady Death (pale of complexion, bounteous of bosom, negligible of garb) and mounting an uprising in Hell.

Brian Pulido's comic creation always struck me as having at least one foot in spoof territory, particularly given her outrageous appearance. But this origin animation is stylish fun. The story works, the characters are all credible and nicely constructed within the confines of the story, and the animation has some nice moments. It's not a kids' movie, though - no bad language but lots of gore, and Lady Death has n!pples like chapel hat pegs.
