Review of Dante's Peak

Watching this film I felt like a child on a long car journey constantly mithering with "Are we there yet?" but in this case it was more, when is the volcano going to explode? The narrative leading up to Dante losing his peak was frankly rather dull, with a routine romantic relationship between leads Pierce Brosnan ( a scientist) and Linda Hamilton (a mayor and coffee shop assistant) and non-engaging characters in the town or the volcanologist team. My favourite character was the dog. When is that volcano going to explode? I kept thinking. Well when it does the scenes of panic and mayhem are staged well and the volcano special effects are mostly decent for their time so that was OK. On the whole not that exciting.
