Wow Wow Wubbzy, Wubbzy Wubbzy Wow Wow!

This was one of my favorite shows when I was little, and I watched it all the time when I was both 5 and 6 years old. I used to play kickety kick ball in my backyard when I was little, just like Wubbzy. I have Wubbzy, Widget, Walden, and Daizy plushes, a remote control talking Wubbzy toy with a spinning kickety kick ball in his hands, Wubbzy and Daizy action figures, and an action figure set that consists of a Walden, a cowboy Wubbzy, and a Wubbzy in a rainbow wig. I got 3 Wow Wow Wubbzy DVDs for Christmas nearly 5 years ago so I can relive my childhood! This appears to be one of the most popular Nick Jr shows with older audiences. I myself am older than Nick Jr's target audience, and this is my absolute favorite Nick Jr and Noggin show!

Despite being a preschool show, it is also aimed at older audiences. Wow Wow Wubbzy feels nearly like a Nickelodeon show because it's a wacky slapstick comedy cartoon like various different Nicktoons. This is one of the least babyish NJ shows out there. It's not your typical preschool show that teaches about healthy eating or the alphabet, instead it's a cartoon about silly characters having fun in their silly little world. Unlike various other fourth wall breaking preschool show characters, Wubbzy doesn't talk down to the audience, and he doesn't break the fourth wall constantly. Instead, he occasionally says hello to his audience and explains to them what's going on in a scene that may confuse them at first. This is one of the only NJ shows that doesn't have a formula or any songs that repeat episode after episode and has a different plot in each episode. Some people may get annoyed or bored with seeing the same formula or hearing the same songs in every episode of a number of other preschool shows, and those people are unlikely to get bored of Wubbzy. As for me, I think just because a show is formulaic and has the same song(s) in every episode doesn't mean it sucks, but it's good to have at least one NJ show that isn't formulaic.

The characters are quirky and very likable, especially the four main characters: Wubbzy, Widget, Walden, and Daizy. Wubbzy has always been my favorite character! He's always ready to have fun, loves to play Kickety Kickball, and is optimistic, playful, and carefree. He always tries his best to make everyone happy and never holds a grudge against anyone. How can anyone go wrong with a character like that? He goes through relatable situations that children often go through, like being nervous about starting school, big people getting in the way of everything, getting out of doing chores to have fun, lying after causing an accident, and more. Sometimes he can be careless and selfish without realizing it at first, although he always learns his lesson, finds a solution to his problems, and makes up for his mistakes thanks to the help of his friends. Wubbzy has always reminded me of Tigger because they both bounce on their tails all the time! He also somewhat resembles both Winnie the Pooh and Spongebob! His tail makes him unique! There are a lot of talents he can do with his tail (e.g., dancing, spinning a ball on it, bending it, bouncing so high, playing Kickety Kick Ball, etc.) Walden always reads about whatever is around him, he's in his library a lot, and he has a passionate curiosity about everything and learns all he can about what he wants to know. He is very knowledgeable about everything, especially science. I especially love his catchphrase, "Yes yes yes!" Widget loves to build machines, especially robots. Thanks to her inventions, any problem can be fixed, and any task can be done. She has a can-do attitude and never gives up. Daizy loves all sorts of things girly girls love, like flowers, dolls, ballet dancing, tea parties, and more, but surprisingly, she doesn't make the show too girly. In case you're wondering, yes, I'm a dude. When Wubbzy first met her, he found her difficult to befriend until he gave her interests a chance and found things in common with her. This shows that girly girls and boyish boys can still be the best of friends! I find Daizy's crush on Wubbzy sweet and endearing. The characters have cute designs, especially Wubbzy and Daizy. The animation slightly reminds me of the animation in another one of my longtime favorite Nick shows, the Fairly Oddparents. Coincidentally, both shows have some of the same voice actors in them, and Wubbzy was created by Bob Boyle, who was also the executive producer of the Fairly Oddparents.

I love the background music in the scenes with no singing because it sounds similar to the music from FOP. The music and songs can be bouncy and energetic at times, like Wubbzy himself. The songs are very catchy and groovy, especially the theme song. Some of them sound like video game music, which makes me like them even more. A number of the post-episode songs tell the episodes' morals in a fun way and give the audience a better understanding of the morals. For example, the song "Wait" tells us things we can do to pass the time away while waiting for something, like making up a song. You're a Star is extremely catchy, and it has great messages: listen to your heart, there is a wide variety of talents people have (e.g., singing, dancing, sewing, doing art, baking, etc.), and everyone is special as they are. Sing a Song explains the simple joy a song can bring to others. A few of the songs don't teach anything (e.g., The Happy Hop, Dance Dance Party, The Robot Dance, The Wubbzy Wiggle) but there's nothing wrong with that. The aforementioned songs are fun, fast paced, catchy, and sure to get the audience up and dancing. This is one of many musical Nick Jr shows I've seen, but this is one of the only ones where the characters don't sing every 5 minutes or so. Instead, 90% of the songs are in their own separate segments and sung by off screen singers. Luckily, there are some episodes with no songs at all, other than the theme song.

I repeat, Wow Wow Wubbzy is the best Nick Jr show EVER!!
