Chip Off the Old Block
12 October 2023
Warning: Spoilers
As a dedicated cop, Linda Murphy is a rookie following in the footsteps of her father Freddy. The dad became obsessed with a murder case in Good Falls, and it took such a toll on him that his life was cut short. Now, the daughter may face the same fate.

Working closely with the police chief David Goodman and FBI SA Neil Carter, Linda is the key player in tracking a serial killer in Good Falls. She becomes the "bait" that will provide the much needed evidence to entrap and convict a local electrician who is the perp.

Based on the good set of characters, it was surprising that the film's pacing was sluggish. Many of the conversations were prolonged endlessly, including the banter of the cops and the women who worked along Route 60. Even when a substantial amount of evidence was collected, there was so much dithering that the electrician had the opportunity to commit another senseless murder.

One of the strong points of the film was a focus on the emotional strain that impacted Linda from the stressful work. She had great compassion for the women who worked along Route 60. But the long nights working in a pressure cooker were a genuine and credible expression of why the resilient Linda was a chip off her old father's block.
