Enjoyed it more than the first one

No real connection to the original Prom Night, other than it's set at the same fictional Hamilton High School. In 1957 a freak accident/'prank gone wrong' results in about-to-be crowned Prom Queen, Mary Lou Maloney, burning to death. Thirty years later Mary Lou's restless spirit returns to take revenge on those responsible, and claim the crowning moment that she was denied. This installment moves at a faster pace than the first. Michael Ironside - giving his usual reliable performance - heads the cast. Lisa Schrage (who only made a handful of movies and TV appearances) is both stunningly beautiful and convincingly menacing as Mary Lou. The rest of the cast are okay. The story is pretty bonkers at times; whereas the first film was a straight-forward slasher, this is part slasher, part possession, part ghost story, and kind of a mashup of The Exorcist, Poltergeist, Nightmare on Elm Street, and Carrie. The practical effects are pretty good. Despite the finale being a bit muddled at times, it's eventful - and the ending is an entertaining one. There's a moderate amount of T&A, plus some full-frontal female nudity. Good fun. 7/10.
