Was This Before Its Time?!
14 November 2023
Warning: Spoilers
I am currently in the process of watching/re-watching every single Scooby-Doo movie that was released Direct-To-Video, since the year 1998. Beings that it is now 2023, there are a little shy of 40 movies that have been released, in total. For those that may be unaware, the first four films featured monsters/creatures that were actually monsters/creatures and not the usual person wearing a costume. "Scooby-Doo and the Cyber Chase" is the final movie (of the four) to have been written in this manner.

I had not seen this movie for many, many years (since my childhood), so I was ecstatic to watch it again.

This movie made me nostalgic. For the longest time, "Scooby-Doo on Zombie Island" had been my most favorite of the cartoon style Scooby movies, but after seeing this work of art, again, I must say that both are tied for my favorite!! 22 years later this film holds up in so many great ways! Other than making me nostalgic, the movie itself is nostalgic in regards to Fred, Daphne, Velma, Shaggy, and Scooby who are portrayed inside the game itself. I love how they interacted with their real life selves, inside the game. I also loved the use of the original Mystery Machine, as well as some of the original costumes from the original tv series.

At one point in the film, Professor Robert Kaufman stated, "Our civilization is so dependent on technology." Little did they know in 2001 what was yet to come.

This movie was definitely before its time, in more ways than one!
