A gambler plans to ease his debt problem by killing his rich uncle - but death beats him to it. Cue: Columbo. Who does his usual job- torturing the suspects with his approach.
Cagney and Lacey's Tyne Daly guest Stars as an alcoholic wife of a rich man ( Steve Forester) who loves younger men and Greg Evigan is the roguish gambler whose plan to kill his uncle is beaten to the punch by the wife. It's an excellent Columbo episode which has an extended build-up of the murderer's plan, a dysfunctional cat and mouse play by Daly and Evigan. It's interesting that we are led to believe Evigan is the main killer but the twist certainly turns like a corkscrew.
