Entertaining spoof/alternative universe episode. As others have already noted, Tom Selleck missed out on playing Indiana Jones in Raiders of the Lost Ark because of his prior commitment to beginning work on Magnum. Then, due to a writers' strike, the start of filming on Magnum was delayed until after RotLA had wrapped!
I'm sure Selleck has had more than enough time to get over any huge regrets he may have had, but I can't help but wonder if very occasionally the thought worms its way into his head of what might have been - the chance to become a Hollywood megastar. Especially when Harrison Ford has recently made another Indy film (which I've just right now read already came out last year. I'll have to watch it, even if it was apparently a box office flop.) But anyway, Selleck's had a career most actors would kill for and is still going strong, with the final season of Blue Bloods set to start airing in a month's time (Feb 2024.)
Penultimate thing: we find out that Magnum dumped his (maybe) fiancée via a one-sentence note. That is ice-cold! Furthermore, he hasn't even had the guts to speak to her in the seven years since and give her some sort of explanation. Not a good look, Tommy-boy. No wonder she has no intention of rekindling the relationship at the end of the episode, but instead makes a run for it!
Last thing: Connie! Miss Northrup! Miss Connie Northrup!
