Survivor Series 2010 Thoughts

Survivor Series 2010 was the 24th annual Survivor Series PPV event produced by the WWE. It was held at the American Airlines Center in Miami, Florida on November 21, 2010. Attendance was at 18,000 with the buyrate from home being 244,000. This was the last Survivor Series of the original brand split which by this point was barely cared about.

8 matches were held on the card. It's the end of 2010 which in retrospect for me, was my slow decline of nostalgia days of wrestling. Everyone has their own era and periods where they loved wrestling the most. Me loving the Ruthless Agreesion stars and majority of the legends across the 2000s would put this as a regressed year. The WWE was not quite great on star power and tried to push a bunch of rookies into a stable called the Nexus in hoping to create a new generation. It didn't go well due to someone refusing to have some names on the top with him. That someone would have his career (kayfabe) put on the line should then-WWE Champion Randy Orton successfully retained his belt against leader of the Nexus, Wade Barrett. The someone was John Cena.

The Good - I say the first part of the show had quite some good regular one on one matches. Daniel Bryan defended his US belt and Morrison faced Sheamus in some typical bullying storyline match and both were good as they should have. Even the weakest one among the first 3 matches being Kaval vs. Dolph Ziggler was fun despite the lack of interest from the crowd. Kaval (better known as Low-Ki) was one of the best indy workers of the 2000s but sadly couldn't make it in his WWE run. The Survivor Series match was also great which mainly was focused on the heat between new comer Alberto Del Rio and Rey Mysterio who both were captains respectively of the teams. Issues was the match not really meaning much though but it was fun.

The Meh - The main event and feud. Was it really worth pretending John Cena was leaving WWE? No one was buying it. Randy Orton vs. Wade Barrett just couldn't click at all as the two had very little chemistry in this match. On top of that, Orton was entering his face run for the first time as a big name and he just wasn't quite as interesting like he is as a heel and Wade Barrett was just not ready for the main events.

The Bad - The World Heavyweight Championship match between Kane & Edge was bad with a stupid feud. Edge apperently suppose to be a face was being written as this sort of sick man. And he's suppose to be the good guy. It was one of the worst feuds of 2010 that ain't worth to tell a whole story. The match itself just was bland and the ending was poor booking to continue it. The Handicap match for the Divas title was honestly barely a match. It was short with the most memorable thing of it being the aftermath of Beth Phoenix returning. The tag team title match was also Lackluster.

Overall - Your regular average show. The opening and midcard matches were fine. After them, the show just went down hill. The main event also being highly disappointing adds a bad conclusion of this show. I'm saying had it been a good main event it might have boosted the show.

Score - 5 out of 10: Mediocre
