I'm giving this a higher rating than most. I feel it's just the kind of spooky we need these days. The weird "rumors" which can't be quite confirmed, add to the delight I feel when I hear about these kind of stories. It was like a fleshed-out "Tales from the Darkside", if you remember that show. Not anything that will keep you up at night, but just something that niggles at your brain now and then.
If you don't care for it, that's on you, and I won't try to talk you into it, but I see the making of a classic. You know what those are, right? Give it a few years and see what you think of it. This one can probably be stretched out to 2 1/2 hours on network tv. It's the kind of childhood "horror" we all need to remember as adults.
