One of the more even-paced, unexceptional & less zesty of the Carry Ons
21 January 2024
Tho chocca with regular stars, 1971's 1500s-based "Carry On Henry" (proper film #20 in the iconic Brit-com series) is one of the more even-paced & unexceptional Carry Ons. Titular King Henry VIII (Sid James) struggles to consumate marriage #6 to French bride Joan Sims as she eats too much garlic - so he plots to do away with her and wed another (like Babs Windsor) to the consternation of his courtiers (inc Kenneth Williams, Terry Scott, Charles Hawtrey, Kenneth Connor & Bill Maynard) AND French King Peter Gilmore. Gerald Thomas & Talbot Rothwell again direct & write respectively, tho with much less zest than they did many of the other Carry Ons.
