Best Defense (1984)

No Moore Murphy.

Warning: Spoilers
Sixth grade locker room humor fills the script unnecessarily to have pointless sexual references every two minutes or so, starting the film with Eddie Murphy scoring with a prostitute and the endless session somewhere in the the middle east and back in the states, Dudley Moore can't manage to seduce wife Kate Capshaw.

So the stereotype of a black stallion and the boring Brit, followed by a senseless plotline that tries to intertwine involving the creation of a tank that fails, and when thar fails, it's back to the dirty little boy jokes and teeny Moore getting ravaged by Helen Shaver. Every now and then, the film shows Murphy doing something in the middle east, but attempting to figure it out is like trying to walk across the Mohave in an astronaut suit.

I did chuckle at a medley of Karen Carpenter songs sung by women of different races in their native language and some of David Rasche's antics, but this ends up being one of the most unnecessary comedies ever made. Capshaw humming the Indiana Jones theme is only funny because of her unpopularity as his love interest, not the intention of how it was meant to come off. Truly one of the big fiascos of the 80's that ends up being one of the few comedies to bring on drowsiness.
