This appealed to both my head, with its wonderful lines and quirky characters and to my heart, with its realness.
Largely set in a school, the writing is magical. Payne soars with the script and the screenplay. It has many hilarious sequences, peppered with funny & erudite dialogues, which made my serotonin surge.
Giamatti is awe- inspiring as the often cranky, but also caring history prof. His nomination knocked out Di Caprio from the Oscar race and it is richly deserved.
Fans of great drama and sharply worded comedy would savor this masterpiece.
It reminded me of _Scent of a woman_, another masterpiece set in the holiday period.
The drama and the humor, unintended at times, backed by brilliant acting, will take your breath away.
