It's a 90 minute episode! We get four subplots here. Richard Dawson is one of my favorite TV personalities from Match Game and Family Feud. (Oh yeah he's the villain in The Running Man too.) Juliet Mills is back, this time with Robert Goulet. There a couple finally given a chance for a vacation. Dawson turns out to be his ex-partner. Loretta Swit is back, playing a Soviet Commissar. She's got her eyes on Doc. She's all critical of American ways. Go home, commie. Swit loses the uniform and dresses 'slinky.' Jo Anne Worley and Soupy Sales are a secretary and a boss sailing together. They've fallen into bed together. 'Good Lord, we're surrounded by water,' Soupy says. Very significantly, this is Jill Whelan's first apperance as Vicki Stubing. 'You and Vicki have exactly the same eyes,' Julie says. Get used to her. I don't hate her, but she never struck me as an integral part of the show. I guess I never realized that the Pirate's Cove is right in front of the pool. This changes everything. None of this really lands. On Kafka's Love Boat Scale, this episode gets 2 1/2 * out of a possible 4 *.
